Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS)
At Kelseyville Unified School District, we use PBIS—Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports—to create a safe, positive, and supportive learning environment for all students. PBIS is a proactive, school-wide framework that focuses on teaching and reinforcing positive behaviors while preventing discipline issues before they happen.
Our three district-wide and school-wide expectations are:
- Be Safe
- Be Responsible
- Be Respectful
These expectations are taught, modeled, and reinforced across all settings—classrooms, hallways, playgrounds, and beyond—to help students build strong social and emotional skills that support their academic success.
Key Features
Proactive Approach
Instead of waiting for misbehavior to happen, we teach and encourage positive behavior from the start.
Clear Expectations
Students understand what it means to be safe, responsible, and respectful in every part of the school day.
School-Wide Consistency
All staff and students share a common language and set of expectations, creating a cohesive and supportive school culture.
PBIS helps ensure that every student feels valued, supported, and ready to learn. It's not just about discipline—it's about creating a community where everyone can thrive.
PBIS at a School Level
Each school site takes ownership of their PBIS implementation under the leadership of their Site Principal. Our Site Principals serve as the primary coordinators for PBIS initiatives at their respective schools, ensuring that positive behavioral interventions and supports are tailored to meet the unique needs of their school community.
