Attendance
Regular attendance—arriving on time and staying for the entire instructional day—is crucial to academic success. Research shows that students who miss 10 or more school days are likely to struggle in upper grades. Every day of learning builds the foundation for future success.
Reporting Your Child's Absence
If your child is absent for any reason, please notify us as soon as possible by calling the school office at (707) 279-4232 and stating the reason for the absence. You may leave a message if no one answers, send an email to our secretary, or send a note when your child returns to school.
Important: If we don't hear from you by 8:00 AM on the day of the absence, our office will call to verify.

Early Dismissal & Appointments
Whenever possible, please schedule doctor, dentist, or other appointments after 2:00 PM when school is dismissed. We understand appointments are sometimes unavoidable during school hours. If your child must be excused early, please send a note to inform their teacher and the office.
When you arrive at school, come to the office first. We will call your child to the office at that time. We do not call students to the office until a parent is present, so please plan your arrival time accordingly. All students must be signed out through the office before leaving.
Perfect Attendance
Perfect Attendance means exactly that: PERFECT. If a child leaves school early or misses any part of the school day for any reason, they will not qualify for perfect attendance recognition.
Partial Day Attendance
When your child has a scheduled appointment during school hours, please inform their teacher in advance whenever possible. Parents must sign their child out through the main office and sign them back in if they return the same day.
May Testing Period
Please do not plan vacations or schedule appointments during the month of May. All 3rd, 4th, and 5th-grade students take the Smarter Balanced Assessment during this critical testing window. Consistent attendance during May ensures your child has the best opportunity to demonstrate their learning and growth.
Short-Term Independent Study
Kelseyville Elementary offers short-term independent study for qualifying situations. Independent Study must be for a minimum of five consecutive school days with a maximum of twenty consecutive school days. An Independent Study application must be completed one week prior to the first day of absence. Contact the office to request an application.
