FAMILY MOVIE NIGHT – TONIGHT, JAN. 23
Join us tonight in the gym for "How to Train Your Dragon - Live Action"! Doors open at 5:00 pm, with the movie starting at 5:30 pm. Riviera PTO is providing free snacks (while they last). Bring your pillows and blankets, get cozy, and we'll see you later tonight!

LAYER UP, DRAGONS!
Mornings start off cool, but by afternoon, we're warming up to the 70s. Please send your child in layers they can peel off as the day heats up. And don't forget to remind them to bring home all their jackets and sweatshirts each day – our lost and found thanks you in advance!

LCOE ATTENDANCE CHALLENGE – MONTHLY DRAWINGS!
We’re celebrating showing up and learning together! If your child has one day or less of absence each month, they're automatically entered into a drawing for awesome prizes during our monthly assemblies.  We know life happens, so even one missed day still gets you entered. Let's do our best to be here and learn together!

COUNSELORS' CORNER
The new year is a great time to reset routines and focus on healthy habits that support children's success at school. One of the most important habits is getting enough sleep. Sleep plays a big role in children’s learning, behavior, and emotional well-being. When children are well-rested, they are better able to focus, manage their emotions, solve problems, and keep trying even when schoolwork feels challenging.

The American Academy of Sleep Medicine recommends the following amounts of sleep, based on age group:

  • 4 to 12 months – 12 to 16 hours
  • 1 to 2 years – 11 to 14 hours
  • 3 to 5 years – 10 to 13 hours
  • 6 to 12 years – 9 to 12 hours
  • 13 to 18 years – 8 to 10 hours

We truly appreciate the support of our parents and families, and thank you for all that you do to encourage healthy habits that help children feel rested, confident, and ready to learn each day. Here is an article on the “Importance of good sleep routines for children.”
