THANKS FOR A GREAT BOOK BLAST!

Thank you to everyone who participated in our Book Blast! A special shout-out to our librarian, Ms. Meyer, for organizing such a fun event. If your student earned a prize but hasn’t received it yet, it will be delivered along with their books. We appreciate your support in encouraging our students to enjoy and cherish reading!

EXTRA CLOTHES, EXTRA CARE

We like to keep extra clothes on hand at school for those unexpected spills, messes, or rainy-day adventures, but our supply is running low. If you have gently used pants, tops, jackets, or sweaters you’d like to donate, please drop them off in the office. We’re also in need of unopened packages of underwear. Thank you so much for helping us take care of our students!

GET READY FOR FALL FESTIVAL!

Mark your calendars! Our Lights on Afterschool Trunk or Treat Fall Festival will be held on Thursday, October 24. This year, we’re combining our annual Fall Festival and Trunk or Treat with EDMO’s nationwide Lights on Afterschool event, hosted by the Riviera PTO & Riviera EDMO. Families can look forward to all the favorites – Haunted Greenhouse, carnival games, raffle baskets, costume contests, great food, and more – plus exciting new additions like local vendors, a 5th-grade candy and caramel apple station, and even a laser tag arena! Keep an eye out for more details, and if you’d like to help or sign up your vehicle for Trunk or Treat, please email riv.elementary.pto@gmail.com.

HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL GAMES

As we continue to enjoy football season, we want to remind parents that middle school and elementary students must be accompanied by an adult to any KHS football games. This helps make sure everyone has a safe and fun time cheering on our teams.

REMINDER: COUNSELOR’S CORNER

Many of our students use cell phones outside of school, and we want to remind families of the importance of healthy cell phone habits.

Here are some tips to help your student use technology safely and responsibly while navigating the online world:

  • Utilize built-in parental controls to help manage screen time, filter inappropriate content, and monitor internet usage.
  •  Discuss internet safety with your child and STAY INVOLVED.
  • Blue light from phone screens can interfere with sleep. Establish a “no-phone” rule an hour before bedtime.
  • Too much cell phone usage has been linked to increased anxiety in young people; limiting phone usage could help reduce stress, improve focus, and support overall emotional well-being.
  • Lastly, remind students to never share their personal information online with anyone.
