It feels strange to be writing my last principal’s note.
When I started teaching here 33 years ago, I had no idea how much I would learn along the way. I'm grateful to all the people I’ve worked with, and to the students, for such a fulfilling career.
Together, we accomplished a lot, from strong academics to award-winning FFA and agriculture programs. We’ve had many sports triumphs and countless memorable arts performances through the years.
I’m proud of the fact that by creating a safe, supportive campus environment, we’ve enabled students to explore their interests, develop leadership skills, and prepare for their futures–whatever they may be.
I think the thing I’ll miss the most about being at KHS is the daily interactions with our students. Being a teacher and administrator has been a huge privilege. Thanks to all who shared this journey with me.
As we welcome Stephanie Waymont as KHS's new principal, I'm confident she's stepping into a role supported by great students, dedicated staff, and a strong school community.

Wishing everyone a relaxing, fun, and restorative summer break. Summer school begins Monday, July 6. The first day of school for the 2026–27 year is Tuesday, September 8. You can view the 26-27 academic calendar here.
Summer Reading
Our school library will be open through Friday, June 26, 7:30 am to 4:00 pm. We also encourage students to visit the Lake County Public Library, which offers a variety of books, resources, and summer reading contests for all ages.

Preparing for the 26-27 School Year
- 2026–2027 Returning Student Registration
All returning students must complete their 2026–27 registration by August 18th. You can register through your PowerSchool Portal. Click on Forms and complete the six necessary forms. If you need help, please email helpdesk@kvusd.org. - Sports Physicals
Students planning to try out for a fall sport will need an updated physical on file before tryouts begin. Upload completed forms through the Google Classroom athletics page. For questions, contact Mr. White at kwhite@kvusd.org
