Meet Our Principal

I'm excited to begin my first year at MVMS and to join this amazing school community. I already feel the enthusiasm and commitment that make this such a great place to learn and grow.

Middle school is a time of exploration and new opportunities, and I look forward to supporting our students as they challenge themselves, build confidence, and create lasting memories. These formative years are filled with growth—academically, socially, and emotionally—and it's an honor to be part of your child's journey.

I'm eager to work alongside our dedicated staff, engaged families, and motivated students to make this a successful and rewarding year for all. Together, we will create a positive school culture where every student feels valued, supported, and empowered to reach their full potential.

Please don't hesitate to reach out if you have questions, ideas, or concerns. I'm here to support you and your student.

Best wishes,
Richard Kale, Mountain Vista Middle School Principal

About Principal Richard Kale

Principal KalePrincipal Richard "Rick" Kale brings more than 20 years of experience in education to Mountain Vista Middle School. After spending a decade as a lawyer, Mr. Kale earned his teaching credential in 2004 and has since served as an English teacher, school principal, and district superintendent/principal in Mendocino County.

Mr. Kale loves middle school because students are discovering who they are and what they're passionate about. He encourages students to explore all their interests and try new things. Using humor and positivity, he motivates students to work hard in whatever they pursue. "I want each student to succeed. I'm always looking for ways to support kids in their goals," he says.

Mr. Kale is a strong proponent of Positive Behavior Interventions and Support (PBIS) and believes education is a "team sport" that requires collaboration between staff, families, and the community. With an open-door policy, he welcomes questions and ideas from students, families, and staff. He is excited to be part of the Kelseyville community and to work alongside educators dedicated to excellence.
