January 16, 2026: Principal's Note

KVUSD KV High

No School on Monday, Jan. 19 – Martin Luther King Jr. Day
KVUSD schools will be closed on Monday, January 19, in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. As we honor Dr. King’s legacy, we reflect on his teachings of love, compassion, and treating every person with fairness and respect. These are values we strive to instill in our students every day as we work toward a more just and equitable future for all.

Finals Week & Early Dismissal – Jan. 20-23
Finals Week begins next week! Families can support their students by helping them get plenty of rest, starting each day with a healthy meal, and encouraging them to give their best effort throughout the week. Please note that students will be dismissed at 12:50 pm during Finals Week. You can view the Finals Schedule here. Thank you for your continued support as our students finish the term strong.

Cash4College Workshop – Jan. 27
Families of seniors are invited to attend Cash4College, a free workshop offering help with the 2026 FAFSA or CADAA applications on Tuesday, January 27, at 6:00 pm in the Student Center. Please sign up using the Google Form in the Class of 2026 Google Classroom.

Track & Field Clinic Registration
A Shot Put/Discus and High/Long Jump clinic will be held on Sunday, February 15, at Modesto Junior College. The cost is $40, and students can register here. For questions, please contact Coach Bert Olson at bolson@kvusd.org.

Helping Our Students Make Healthy Choices
E-cigarettes (vapes) often contain nicotine and other toxic chemicals, which can negatively affect brain development, memory, attention, and mental health. If your student is vaping, supportive conversations, clear expectations, and encouraging healthy ways to handle stress can make a big difference.

We also offer free online counseling for vaping through the CA Department of Education. Please contact your student’s counselor, and we can help get you connected. Together, we can help students stay informed, safe, and healthy. Learn more and find additional support here.
