Counseling Groups
Our counseling groups offer students a supportive environment to build skills, find community, and navigate the challenges of middle school. Groups are facilitated by MVMS school counselors and are designed to meet students where they are.
Wellness Groups
Duration: 10 weeks | Meets: Weekly
Feeling stressed, overwhelmed, or just not quite like yourself? Wellness Groups are designed to help students build a personal toolkit of healthy habits and coping strategies. Whether you're going through something tough or just want to feel better day to day, this group is for you.
Students will explore:
- Breathing techniques for calm and focus
- Progressive muscle relaxation
- Gratitude journaling
- A social media detox challenge
- Emotional regulation strategies and more
Peer Support Groups
Duration: 10 weeks | Meets: Weekly | Group size: 5–8 students
Sometimes the most powerful thing is knowing you're not alone. Peer Support Groups bring together small groups of 5–8 students to share, listen, and support one another. This is a space to talk about hard things — and to celebrate the good ones too.
What to know:
- Everything shared in the group stays in the group.
- Confidentiality is a core value of these groups. However, any information that raises a serious safety concern will be shared with the appropriate school staff to ensure student wellbeing.
Kindness Club
Duration: Through the end of the school year | Meets: Every other week
Kindness Club is all about making Mountain Vista a better place — one act at a time. This student-led group organizes activities and initiatives that spread kindness across our school community: to students, staff, and our campus as a whole. If you're someone who likes to make a difference and have fun doing it, Kindness Club is your place.
Wings of Hope
Duration: 6 weeks | Meets: Weekly
Presented in partnership with Lake County Hospice
Losing someone you love is one of the hardest things a person can go through. Wings of Hope is a grief support group for students who have experienced the loss of a loved one. This six-week program is facilitated by our partners at Lake County Hospice and provides a compassionate, safe space to process grief and find support alongside peers who understand.
A signed permission slip is required for all students wishing to participate in Wings of Hope.

Schedule
Every effort is made to schedule group meetings during non-academic periods so that students do not miss instructional time.
Students Under Age 12
Students under the age of 12 require a signed parent or guardian permission slip to participate in any counseling group. If your child has expressed interest in joining a group and is under 12, a permission slip was sent home this week. Please complete and return it as soon as possible so your student can get started.
