June 12, 2026: Principal's Notes

KVUSD-Mountain Vista

THANK YOU FOR A GREAT SCHOOL YEAR
Our students showed up this year ready to learn, grow, and make the most of every day. None of that happens without the families, teachers, and staff who support them every step of the way. Thank you for a truly great school year. Congratulations to our 8th graders, and we wish them good luck as they head into a new and exciting chapter in high school. I wish everyone a fun, relaxing, and safe summer break. We'll see you back on campus on Tuesday, September 8, for the first day of the 2026–27 school year.

SUMMER READING
Summer is the perfect time to kick back with a great book! This year, we made sure every one of our students has a Lake County Public Library card, so your reader is all set to check out books all summer long. The library also has fun reading contests – Learn more here.

SUMMER ACTIVITIES OR RESOURCES
There's no shortage of fun and support this summer. Check out the links below:

PREPARING FOR THE 26-27 SCHOOL YEAR

  • Returning Student Registration — Due by Aug. 18
All returning students must complete their 2026–27 registration through their PowerSchool portal. Click on Forms and complete the six required forms. If you need assistance, email helpdesk@kvusd.org.

  • Tdap Vaccine Requirement for Incoming 7th Graders
All students entering 7th grade must have their Tdap vaccine on file before the first day of school. Please send your child's immunization records to the front office. If you have any questions, please call the office at 707-279-4060.

  • Fall Sports Physicals
If your student plans to try out for a fall sport, they'll need a current physical on file before tryouts begin. Don't wait until the last minute; get it done early this summer so your student is ready to go!

CONSTRUCTION SAFETY OVER THE SUMMER
The construction down the street, where a new sidewalk is being installed from KHS to MVMS and KES, will continue throughout the summer. We ask drivers to be extra aware of children crossing and to pay close attention to stop signs and construction zones. We encourage your child to use the temporary crosswalk we have in place and remind them of proper road crossing safety—looking both ways before crossing.
