8TH GRADE PROMOTION ACTIVITIES – HELP YOUR STUDENT PREPARE!
As we head into the final quarter, we want to share important information about our 8th Grade Promotion activities. This is an exciting milestone for your student, and there are a couple of eligibility requirements to be aware of.

To participate in 8th Grade Promotion activities, students need:

  • A CTL score of 2.5 or higher for the 4th Quarter
  • No suspensions in the 4th Quarter

CTL scores are updated weekly and viewable in PowerSchool, so you can monitor your student's progress. CTL scores measure classroom participation and commitment to learning – they're separate from academic grades. These scores build throughout the entire school year, which means there's still time to make an impact! Even if your student is currently below the 2.5 minimum, the fourth quarter is the perfect opportunity to focus on commitment to learning and boost that score before the quarter ends at the end of the month.

TRACK & FIELD PLEDGE FUNDRAISER
Our middle school Track & Field athletes are excited to host their Run, Jump, Throw for the Finish Pledge Fundraiser on Thursday, April 2nd at 3:30 PM at the KHS track. We invite our families and community to support our athletes by making a pledge, whether it’s per lap, jump, or throw, or a flat donation. Every contribution helps provide equipment, uniforms, and improvements to our program. Thank you for cheering on our students and helping them succeed! You can pledge directly here.

7TH GRADE CHALLENGE DAY VOLUNTEERS
We're looking for volunteers to help make our 7th Grade Challenge Day a success! Challenge Day is an emotional, high-energy experience led by trained leaders that helps students build empathy, reduce social barriers, and create a safer, more compassionate school environment. We’re seeking volunteers who are ready for this emotional and meaningful work. The event takes place on Tuesday, April 14, from 7:45 am to 3:25 pm at the MUR on Oak Hills Lane. Learn more here. If you are interested in volunteering, please call the office at 707-279-4060 or email Ms. Brin at sbrin@kvusd.org.

DRESS CODE REMINDER
As the weather warms up, we're noticing some shifts in what students are wearing to school. We'd like to remind families about a few key dress code expectations: shorts should measure at least 10 inches from the top of the waistband, shirts should touch the waistband when arms are at your side, and pants should be worn at the proper waistline without underwear visible.

We know it can sometimes be tricky to navigate what's appropriate for school versus what works for weekends. If a student's clothing doesn't meet our dress code, we'll reach out to ask for a change of clothes. Click here to read our complete dress code policy.

STUDENT COUNSELING GROUPS
Beginning next week, we will be offering several small support groups focused on building coping skills, emotional wellness, and positive peer connections. Groups include Wellness Groups, Peer Support Groups, Kindness Club, and Wings of Hope, a grief support program in partnership with Lake County Hospice. Every effort is made to schedule groups during non-academic periods. Students under the age of 12 require signed parental permission to participate. You can learn more about each group here.
