WE’RE LOOKING FOR VOLUNTEERS! CAREER DAY – MAR. 27
We're looking for volunteers to help supervise our students during Career Day on Friday, March 27, from 12:30 to 2:45 pm! This event will be packed with exciting career presentations—from firefighters to chiropractors, dentists to realtors, florists to nurses, hairstylists to veterinarians, and so much more. Your help will ensure our students have a positive, engaging experience as they explore different career paths. Please email Mrs. Brin at sbrin@kvusd.org or call the office at 707-279-4060 to sign up.
BINGO NIGHT FUNDRAISER – WE’RE RESCHEDULING!
Our Grade Parents' Bingo Night Fundraiser, originally scheduled for Friday, March 13, has been postponed until further notice. Stay tuned for updates.
8TH GRADE PROMOTION ACTIVITIES – HELP YOUR STUDENT PREPARE!
As we head into the final quarter, we want to share important information about our 8th Grade Promotion activities. This is an exciting milestone for your student, and there are a couple of eligibility requirements to be aware of.
To participate in 8th Grade Promotion activities, students need:
- A CTL score of 2.5 or higher for the 4th Quarter
- No suspensions in the 4th Quarter
CTL scores are updated weekly and viewable in PowerSchool, so you can monitor your student's progress. These scores build throughout the entire school year, which means there's still time to make an impact! Even if your student is currently below the 2.5 minimum, the fourth quarter is the perfect opportunity to focus on commitment to learning and boost that score before the quarter ends at the end of the month.
DRESS CODE REMINDER
As the weather warms up, we're noticing some shifts in what students are wearing to school. We'd like to remind families about a few key dress code expectations: shorts should measure at least 10 inches from the top of the waistband, shirts should touch the waistband when arms are at your side, and pants should be worn at the proper waistline without underwear visible.
We know it can sometimes be tricky to navigate what's appropriate for school versus what works for weekends. If a student's clothing doesn't meet our dress code, we'll reach out to ask for a change of clothes. Click here to read our complete dress code policy.
8TH GRADE KRISPY KREME FUNDRAISER – ENDS MAR. 23
Our 8th graders are excited to kick off a Krispy Kreme fundraiser through March 23! You can order a dozen glazed donuts or a gift card for $18, with pick-up on April 2nd at the library.
To ensure we remain in compliance with the district’s wellness policy, these donuts should not be eaten during school hours. We appreciate your support in this fundraiser and in keeping our school in compliance!
STUDENT COUNSELING GROUPS
Beginning next week, we will be offering several small support groups focused on building coping skills, emotional wellness, and positive peer connections. Groups include Wellness Groups, Peer Support Groups, Kindness Club, and Wings of Hope, a grief support program in partnership with Lake County Hospice. Every effort is made to schedule groups during non-academic periods. Students under the age of 12 require signed parental permission to participate. You can learn more about each group here.
MONTHLY ATTENDANCE CHALLENGE
Each month, three students who miss no more than one day of school are entered into a drawing for some seriously cool prizes. Let’s help our students show up on time, ready to learn — they just might score something amazing!
