GIRLS BASKETBALL CHAMPIONSHIP TOURNAMENT – JAN. 29-31
The Lake County Girls Basketball Championship tournament continues through tomorrow, Saturday, Jan. 31, with games starting at 9:00 am at Kelseyville High School Gym. Come out and support our Lancers as they compete for the championship! You can view the tournament brackets and schedules here.
FEBRUARY – BLACK HISTORY MONTH
In February, we recognize Black History Month, a time to celebrate the achievements and acknowledge the history of African Americans throughout U.S. history. From leadership and innovation to literature, art, culture, science, music, and civil rights, these contributions have profoundly shaped our nation and continue to inspire us today. As we learn, reflect, and celebrate together, we reaffirm our commitment to fostering an inclusive, equitable, and empowering learning environment for all students at KVUSD.
NATIONAL SCHOOL COUNSELING WEEK – FEB. 2-6
Next week, we celebrate National School Counseling Week and recognize our incredible counselors, Mr. Watkins, Ms. Brin, and Ms. Boettecher, for their dedication to our students. Our counselors work tirelessly to support students academically, socially, and emotionally, helping them navigate challenges and reach their full potential. Thank you for everything you do to make MVMS a welcoming and supportive place for all students!
8TH GRADE PARENT MEETING – FEB. 5
An important 8th grade parent meeting will be held on Thursday, Feb. 5, at 5:30 pm in the MVMS library. We will discuss upcoming fundraisers, including hot chocolate and Krispy Kreme sales this spring, and finalize plans for the promotion dance at Konocti Vista Casino. We need parent volunteers to help make these events successful, so please join us even if you haven't attended before. Your participation makes all the difference!
VALENTINE SPIRIT WEEK – FEB. 9-13
Get ready for Valentine Spirit Week! Here's the dress-up schedule:
- Monday, Feb. 9 – Twin Day: Dress as a duo or trio with your friends!
- Tuesday, Feb. 10 – Decade Day: Show off your favorite decade's style.
- Wednesday, Feb. 11 – Anti-Valentine Day: Anything but hearts or flowers - rock an all-black look!
- Thursday, Feb. 12 – Country vs. City: Choose your style!
- Friday, Feb. 13 – Wear Red or Pink: Show your Valentine's spirit!
VALENTINE DANCE – FEB. 13
Join us for the Valentine Dance on Friday, Feb. 13, from 6:00-8:00 pm in the gym. Tickets are $5 at the door, and snacks will be available for purchase.

Congratulations to the B Team boys basketball team for taking home first place in their division at the Chico All-City Tournament last weekend. We're so proud of your hard work and dedication!
WINTER WELLNESS
As cold and flu season continues, please remind your student to wash their hands regularly, avoid touching their face, and respect others’ personal space. If your student needs to miss school due to illness, please call the office to let us know. Thank you for helping keep our school community healthy.
